THE NEED
Why a Welding Academy?
According to recent data analysis, the welding industry in the United States will require 378,000 skilled welders in 2022. But currently, Bureau of Labor Statistics data shows that for every welder re-entering the industry, three are retiring each year. This shortage of labor is forcing 40 percent of the American Welding Society’s member companies to shut down their businesses.
The welding industry’s need for skilled workers has created a unique opportunity for WOS to help train underserved populations in need of better jobs. By partnering with the Universal Technical Institute, we aim to fill the growing demand for welders while providing individuals with the opportunity to create a better life and career for themselves.
